The short answer

A first grocery run for an Orlando suite with a kitchen covers breakfast for the first morning, park-day snacks, two or three easy dinners and staples. Skip pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and coffee: every WorldQuest suite has them, plus starter coffee, dishwashing powder and laundry detergent. Publix and Walmart are about two miles away, or have groceries delivered.

What goes on a grocery list for an Orlando suite with a kitchen?

Buy for the first morning, the park days and two or three easy dinners. Everything else can wait for a second run once you know what the family actually eats on vacation.

Every suite at WorldQuest has a full kitchen, so you can cook properly rather than assembling snacks in a hotel room. The list below is sized for a family for the first three or four days. Cross off anything you know your group will not touch, and adjust quantities for a three-bedroom group of six to eight.

First-morning breakfast

Milk and a plant milk if anyone needs one.
Cereal or oats. One box the children will eat without negotiation.
Bread or bagels and butter or spread.
Eggs. Scrambled eggs take five minutes in a suite pan.
Fruit that travels. Bananas, apples, grapes, clementines.
Yogurt in single pots for the day bag too.
Juice or something the children drink at home.
Coffee for later in the week. The suite’s coffee maker comes with a starter pack, so buy your usual brand for the days after that, plus creamer if you use it.

Park-day snacks and packed lunches

Refillable water bottles if you did not pack them, plus a case of bottled water for the car.
Granola or protein bars. One per person per park day.
Individual crackers, pretzels and trail mix. Things that survive a hot bag.
Fruit pouches and dried fruit for younger children in queues.
Sandwich fixings. Sliced bread, deli meat or cheese, peanut butter and jelly.
Zip bags and a small soft cooler if you plan packed lunches. Check Disney’s current policy on bringing food into the parks before you rely on it.
Electrolyte drink powder for the hot afternoons.
Sunscreen and lip balm. Grocery-store prices, not park prices.

Easy dinners

Pasta and a jar of sauce plus grated cheese. The reliable first-night dinner.
Rotisserie chicken and a bag of salad. No cooking at all.
Taco kit with ground meat or beans, cheese and a tomato.
Frozen pizza. One for the night nobody wants to decide.
A stir-fry bag of prepared vegetables and a sauce.
Rice or couscous to stretch any of the above.
Something for the grown-ups. Guests may bring their own alcohol, so a bottle of wine or a six-pack for the balcony is fine.

Staples

Cooking oil or spray. Small bottle.
Salt, pepper and one all-purpose seasoning. Do not buy a spice rack for a week.
Ketchup and mayonnaise in small sizes.
Sugar or sweetener for coffee and cereal.
Onions and garlic if anyone actually cooks.
Ice cream. There is a freezer. Enough said.

Household items

Laundry detergent. The suite’s starter pack covers the first loads; buy a small bottle for the rest of a week-long stay.
Dishwasher tablets or dish soap. A starter supply of dishwashing powder is provided; top up for longer stays.
Paper towels and a roll of trash bags.
Foil and cling film for leftovers and packed lunches.
Basic first aid. Plasters, children’s pain relief, blister pads. Park days are hard on feet.
Insect repellent for evenings by the pool.

What should you not buy because the suite already has it?

First-time suite guests often arrive with paper plates, plastic cutlery and a travel kettle. None of it is needed. Every suite at WorldQuest includes:

Pots and pans. Enough to cook a real dinner.
Crockery, glassware and cutlery. Plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, knives, forks and spoons.
Coffee maker with a starter pack of coffee. Part of the welcome kit.
Dishwashing powder starter. Enough for the first loads.
Laundry detergent starter. For the in-suite washer and dryer.
Hairdryer and basic toiletries. In each bathroom.
Iron and ironing board. In the twin bedroom closet.
Refrigerator, freezer, stove and oven. A full kitchen, so frozen and fresh items both have a home.

Suites are individually owned condominiums, so small items such as a blender, a toaster or a kettle vary from suite to suite. If a specific appliance matters to you, ask the reservations team on (407) 387-3800 before you arrive rather than buying one on the first day.

Gaps at 11pm

The 24-Hour Corner Pantry in the lobby carries snacks, cold drinks, frozen meals, breakfast items and forgotten essentials. It is the answer to a late arrival, a missed grocery run or a child who wants cereal you did not buy.

Corner Pantry

Snacks, cold drinks, frozen meals and breakfast items in the lobby at any hour. Not a full shop, but the gap-filler that lets you buy less on day one.

How grocery delivery to the resort works

Order a few days before you travel. Use the Orlando Grocery Express guest page or any local store’s delivery option, and put the reservation name on the order.
Time it for after check-in. Check-in is from 4:00pm, so a delivery window after that lets cold items go straight into your own refrigerator.
Match the name to the reservation. The resort accepts packages for guests at no charge, provided the name on the package matches the reservation. It cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged packages.
Keep the first day light. Delivery covers breakfast, snacks and dinner one; do a second, better-informed run from Publix or Walmart once you know what the children will eat.

Cook or eat out

Is cooking in the suite worth it, or should you eat every meal out?

Most families land somewhere between the two: breakfast and most dinners in the suite, lunch and a few special meals out. Here is how the two approaches compare, in terms that stay true whatever the prices are this season.

What is on site, and what is not

There is no restaurant on site, no room service and breakfast is not included, which is exactly why the kitchen matters. Coffee is served in the lobby from 7 to 11am. The poolside Tiki Bar is open daily 11am to 7pm with food, cocktails, beer and Starbucks® coffee, and happy hour runs 3 to 4pm with a daily drink special; the menu is at Tiki Bar menu. For a meal out without going to a park, Logan’s Roadhouse is 3.1 miles away and World of Food Trucks is 3.2 miles, both about seven minutes by car.

Eating in the parks and at Disney Springs

Character dining is a sit-down meal where characters visit the tables; it is popular with young children and books up, so reserve it through Disney. Disney Springs, the shopping and dining district, does not require a park ticket, and its counter-service and food-hall options mean you can usually eat there without a reservation. Disney’s rules on bringing your own food and drink into the theme parks change from time to time, so check Disney’s current policy before you pack a cooler.

Feeding a family with food allergies

A suite kitchen is the simplest allergy plan there is. Shop for the safe brands you use at home at Publix or Walmart, keep breakfast and most dinners in the suite, and pack safe snacks for the parks so no queue depends on a restaurant’s answer. For the meals you do eat out, tell Disney about allergies when you make the dining reservation on (407) 939-3463 and again when you are seated.

What is the closest grocery store to WorldQuest Orlando Resort?

Publix and Walmart are both about two miles from the resort, a short drive. Self-parking at the resort is complimentary, so a rental car makes the trip easy. If you would rather not shop on arrival, order from Orlando Grocery Express or any local store and have the delivery arrive with you.

Can groceries be delivered before I check in?

Deliveries can be arranged to arrive with you, and the resort accepts packages for guests at no charge as long as the name on the package matches the reservation. Time the delivery for after check-in, which starts at 4:00pm, so cold items go straight into your suite’s refrigerator. The resort cannot take responsibility for lost or damaged packages.

Is breakfast included at the resort?

No. There is no restaurant or room service on site. Coffee is served in the lobby from 7 to 11am, the Corner Pantry sells breakfast items around the clock, and every suite has a full kitchen and a coffee maker with a starter pack. Most families find a suite breakfast is faster and cheaper than any alternative.

What is the cheapest way to handle breakfast on a park day?

Eat it in the suite before you leave. Cereal, fruit, yogurt and toast bought on the first grocery run feed a family for days, and the coffee maker handles the adults. Take a granola bar and a piece of fruit each for the queue at rope drop, and you can hold out until a late lunch.

Can I bring my own food into the Disney parks?

Disney sets and changes its own rules on outside food, drink and coolers, so check Disney’s current policy before you pack a lunch. Whatever the rule that week, snacks bought at Publix or Walmart cost less than snacks bought inside a park, and a suite kitchen makes packed lunches simple to prepare.

Where can we eat without driving to a theme park?

The poolside Tiki Bar serves food, cocktails, beer and Starbucks® coffee daily from 11am to 7pm, with happy hour 3 to 4pm. Beyond the resort, Logan’s Roadhouse is 3.1 miles away and World of Food Trucks is 3.2 miles, both about seven minutes by car. The Concierge desk can suggest others.

Does the suite have a real fridge and oven?
